Family Devotional Tips
Here are some helpful tips related to having successful family devotionals:
1. More important than how you do family devotionals is that you do family devotionals. If you want to reap a harvest of faith and love for God, you must plant the seeds of faith and love for God.
2. Keep family devotionals simple, especially when starting out. Five engaging minutes are far better than twenty rambling ones.
3. Family devotionals are not only about gaining knowledge but also about establishing patterns and displaying priorities in your life and the life of your family.
4. The foundation of family devotionals is simple: read and pray. Better said: read, teach, and pray.
5. One of the best benefits of family devotions is not only gaining knowledge but also relating to God together as a family. Make it interactive if possible. Make it as fun as possible, but not all devotionals need to be fun.
6. Remember you are planting good seeds of faith. Just like seeds don’t grow instantly, do not grow discouraged or frustrated if your children don’t love the devotional or immediately respond.
7. Ask for tips on family devotions from others. Glean from their successes and false starts. Also, ask input from your spouse or your children (if they are old enough).
